Went up via South Fork Trail-Dry Lake Trail-Sky High Trail. We only met couple of hiker on our way to Dry Lake which was not dry at all. After a 30 min break we continued the hike. Along the way at Sky High Trail we pass by the wreckage of the C-47B Skytrain USAF #45-1124 which crashed during a snowstorm on 12/1/52 while on a flight from Offutt AFB at Omaha, Nebraska to March AFB near Riverside, California killing the 13 men on board. When we were about to finish the switch back that is when we saw the smoke from the brush fire southeast of us. There were a lot of hikers at the summit taking break and turns for the photo ops. After an hour of break and photo shots the fire got bigger, visible from the peak and the smoke got larger. We then proceeded going down via San Bernardino Peak Divide Trail-South Fork Trail. When we reach Dollar Lake area it suddenly got little bit darker like there was an overcast. The smoke got bigger and it was moving over the summit.
After about 10 hours of hiking we finally got back to the parking area with sore feet (breaking-in my new hiking shoes) and painful knee.
