I signed up for 2020 a few days ago and I'm logging my first hike.
Early 5:30 AM start from Icehouse Canyon TH with headlamp. I've always done IHC at 5 AM weekdays because it's a lot of fun at dark and parking is no problem. Chilly morning unlike 6 weeks ago but I was layered, and it stayed relatively cool most of the day. Hiked from IHC TH to IH Saddle to Cucamonga Peak, back to IH Saddle to Ontario Peak, back to IH Saddle again and back down to IHC TH. I skipped Chapman Trail this time because 17.5 miles was enough for today, and there are parts of IHC that I've never seen in daylight, but funny how I was stumbling over stuff in daylight that I've never stumbled over in darkness. Today had a good cloud layer on both sides of the mountain so no views of cityscape, but I still enjoyed the views.
Cucamonga Peak hike requires USDA Forest Service permit, free online at https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/sbnf/passes-permits/recreation/ with at least a day's notice.
