Started after 7am. Start of the hike was cold, frost on sides of trail. The trail is primarily in tall brush, so no views on the way up. There's lots of white, fragrant bloom, but we did not encounter any bugs or pollinators. Steady, gradual incline at the start. Trail is in very good condition, soft soil with moderate scattering of rocks. The last 0.4 miles is steep scramble, class 1-2. Rarely any hand usage, but very narrow, so need to stop for other hikers. Great, clear views from the peak. There are signs at the top for photos. Peak is a fairly small, bouldery area. Was cramped today because there was a friendly hiking group already there. Use caution coming down from the peak, can easily lose footing and slip on the steep section. After that the return trip is smooth and easy. We had a moving time of about 3.5 hours. Great time, great hike. Fully recommend.

Parking is easy with an adventure pass. Lot is across from large “Candy Store” sign. From parking lot you'll have to cross Ortega highway to get to the Bear Canyon Trailhead (to the right of the candy store). There are a few forks on the trail, just follow the white stakes pointing to Sitton Peak and you'll have nothing to fear.
