Parked at Baldy ski resort(trailhead parking below was packed). Found on Google maps another access road from this parking lot that intersects the Baldy road on the way up to Baldy notch. This service road is steep, but now you have plenty of parking available at any time.
Devils backbone trail was crowded, even some crazy mountain bikers. Ascent up the ski run was steep, backbone was not bad, final ascent to the Peak was very steep. Some snow on north face of Baldy, Descended toward the ski hut….very steep and will take time. Springs, waterfalls and streams are all running right now, which made this steep, downhill hike more enjoyable. BTW, new signage on the trails, which was a big plus.
When you get back to the Baldy road, make a left to go up Baldy road to descend down the service road to the ski resort parking lot.
Wind was gusty at the summit, so be prepared. Also, it was so clear you can see Mt. Whitney!
