Although I already did Mt. Pinos earlier this year, I returned to do the 3-2-1 Hike: 3 peaks in 2 counties in 1 day.  This time it was a group hike. The weather was perfect, the wind just about right and the six of us had an excellent hike. We hiked from Nordic Base to Mount Pinos, the high point of Ventura County and the 1 peak in the Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge. After that easy warmup we went on to hike to Sawmill Mountain (the highest point of Kern County) and then to Grouse Mountain (why not? we were already there to quote the Chamber of Commerce who promotes the 3-2-1 hike). We started at 8:30am, reached Grouse Mountain at 12 pm, and were back in our cars at around 3:15pm. All in all, a good group of friends and a good trail to hike. A wonderful redo of Mount Pinos for this year.
