Great hike this morning! We arrived at the Volcan Mountain Trailhead just after 0600. Parking is on the street about two tenths of a mile from the actual trailhead. There are two (well maintained) porta johns there as well.
Weather was perfect, about 45 degrees as we stepped off. We ran into a few icy patches on the way up; however, we avoided them on the way down by tailing the loop trail. The loop trail adds about two tenths of a mile to the hike.
We had the trail to ourselves for the majority of the hike. Only saw two hikers going up as we were finishing up.
