Hiked up to Cucamonga Peak via Icehouse Canyon. While it's nice in the canyon it get's hot after the Saddle. I should have filled up my water bottle on the way. …there is a little creek with fresh cold water coming from right uder the trail on the right side before you start going up steeper switch-backs. It's easily noticed by the big heart carved on into the small pine on the left side as you go up the trail…
anyway, I ran out of water at the top of Cuca which made the next two peaks a bit harder.
I connected up to Big Horn from the saddle between Cuca and Big Horn, following up the obvious ridge (there is a somewhat faint trail too).
It took my 2:15 hrs to Cuca Peak and another hour to get to Big Horn. The heat (102 F) on the exposed ridgeline between Big Horn and Ontario really slowed me down after that, but Ontario Peak doesn't disappoint. On the way down I couldn't wait to get to the creek to stick my head into the ice cold water. 🙂
Alltogether a great day!
