Perfect day.  It was slightly hazy but we could see the Pacific Ocean, Catalina, LOTS of green, rolling hills, breeze, and the traffic was not too bad.  If you decide to take the road up to the divide like we did, 15ish minutes on a paved single road with a couple of passible bad spots, 35ish minutes of a  dirt road.  Need higher clearance vehicles…my husband's Prius would probably not make it up the first concrete portion. Had a couple of  very polite trucks, motor bikes and all others were very polite when we needed to cross.  I used Yax on boots on the patches on snow (59 F w/arthritis) but the person I hiked with (younger) did it perfectly well with trail shoes.  Personal comfort level.
