Baden-Powell
March 24th, 2019
It's been a long wait! 2 days ago, I couldnt summit Ontario Peak, what would of been my sixth. So I came to Baden Powell to achieve what I had set out for. Drove there in the morning, got to the trailhead at 7am. Trail conditions sucked from the start, but this time I came prepared! I brought crampons, ice axe, and my buddy Luis (recommended to bring crampons/ice axe). The trail did have man-made snow trails to lead you to the top but definitely not the normal route. Got to the top of the summit and there wasn't the american flag/baden-powell sign, it was dug up in snow; I would estimate 6feet of snow in the summit. Going down was a bit tricky trying to follow the snow trails. On a serious note, there was a helicopter that rescued two hikers today. When I reached the bottom, I found two cop cars close the entrance to the trailhead. The cops told me, the two hikers slipped and fell somewhere off the path; luckily they were okay though. Always be prepared, safe, and “better to live to hike another day” in the worse of cases! What a way to finish!

6 feet of snow? I think we may need to wait a while to hike this one. Safety first!
