This was originally planned as a full Franconia Ridge loop going up Flume Slide Trail and working my way down Old Bridle Path. Which would include Flume, Liberty, Haystack, Lincoln, No Lincoln, and Lafayette (which I've deemed 6 Summit Loop). When I got to the trailhead the weather was less than ideal. 65mph winds above treeline and ice expected. So, I planned to shorten the hike and went up Falling Waters. When I got to the ridgeline trail I headed north, it was windy and wet but not impassable, so I forged on to Lafayette. When I got there it was still very early so I turned around and ran back to Haystack, then headed south and topped Liberty and Flume. I ended up summiting Haystack, Lincoln, and No Lincoln twice, thus the 9 summit variant title.
I haven't been above treeline much in recent years and this was a stunning return hike. Thanks for the motivation and I am looking forward to the 4th of July weekend when I'm planning to summit most of the others on this list.
