We arrived at the parking by 8:15 am and there was ample parking. The start of the trail was through a lush area, complete with a small creek running. It was beautiful! Once we got on the fire road, the sun was scotching. The views were great though.

The trail was not very difficult and we took our time getting to the peak. The views from the peak were outstanding. We could see some snow capped peaks – Lassen perhaps? It was a real 360 degree viewpoint.

The hike back was even better as we got to enjoy the views along the trail. We saw some wild flowers blooming through the burned foilage – made us marvel at the persistence and determination of nature.

We stopped at a cafe in Calistoga on the way back for coffee and restroom – there are no restrooms at the trail head. Calistoga is a charming little town too.

I'm glad I joined this challenge because I would probably never have heard of this peak otherwise. Overall, I really enjoyed this hike – not strenuous with very rewarding views.
