Hit the trailhead at 830am Friday morning.  The parking lot was nearly empty with only 4 other cars there.

We got permits for Limber Pine Bench campground for Friday night – Freaky Friday the 13th and a Harvest Moon! Perfect night for a summit and my first backpacking trip!

The weather was perfect the whole day with a light breeze and mild temperatures.  We had been nervous when we were traveling to the trailhead because the nearest town was already in the high 70s by 8am.  But we were relieved when we parked at the trailhead and it was 59 degrees outside.

The views were fantastic which made up for the annoyance of bugs throughout the area.  Mosquitos were out and about so we put on the bug spray immediately!

We made it to the campground by 2pm, picked a western facing spot and set up camp.  We packed our summit packs and grabbed our water filters to head to the Limber Pines Spring and summit before sunset.

The spring was flowing decently.  There's more than enough water for filtration, but with a full campground, I'm sure it can get busy.  We had the spring to ourselves on the way up to the sumit and shared it with one another group on the way back to town.

With a Friday hike and an afternoon summit, we had the summit completely to ourselves! We got to add to the trail logs, take all the photos we wanted and enjoy the incredible views from the top. And celebrate our completion of our 6 pack of peaks!

We made our way back to camp, stopping briefly to top off water at the spring, just in time for a gorgeous sunset! The evening was pretty chilly but wind was minimal.  We had the best luck with no wind and the brightest moon you can imagine!  The moon rose about 9pm and lit up the whole valley! Harvest moon was out in all its glory.

We enjoyed our morning view, slowly packed up camp and made our way down about 9am.  The trail was incredibly busy with people!  We passed at least 30 people before we reached the bottom, groups, Boy Scout Troops, individuals, etc. We were grateful we hiked on a Friday, especially when we realized the parking lot was overflowing.

Excellent hike, definitely a repeat!  But please please please clean up after yourself! We collected trash on our way to the parking lot.  We collected water bottles, snack wrappers, bandaids, a cigarette butt (?!?!?), backpacking food wrapper, etc.  Not to mention the 40+ pee/potty tissues/rags we passed but didn't pick up for hygenic purposes.  Six Pack of Peak hikers are better than this and we can teach our fellow hikers to be better.  We must do better for our planet so we can continue enjoying it!
