Snowfields to cross – could be difficult

Left the Trail Canyon Trailhead at 0530 with day lite just beginning.  Pleasant hike until I reached the turn off for Mummy Mountain and then the fun began!  Tough quarter to half mile up a steep incline to the saddle. Hiking conditions were perfect, other than the snow, no wind at all on the summit.  Hiked another mile or so towards Mt Charleston to see if I could get a twofer, but the trail narrows and the snow and ice were too much for me to proceed.   Also the trail was solid going up but coming down in the midday sun it turned to mud in spots.
