Hike numberĀ  5 of six (twelve) was a Wow. I guess us beach folk ain't used to dem heights. Back home we can do the 8 mile, 2.8k potato chip rock in less than 4 hours, but this one, this one took us 10 hours to do. I'm thinking we got off trail a few times, so we probably did more than 10 miles. That is my story and I'm sticking to it! We went the way of Baldy notch, devil's backbone, the peak, Baldy bowl, and then ski hut. There was a patch of snow still up by the peak. The trail was easy to follow going up, but on the way down, we were not sure the way to go even though we had GPS, maps, and watched videos of previous Baldy hikes. The bees were out in force. I'm the only one who is allergic to them and I was the only one stung. The bee flew up my shorts and stung my thigh soon after leaving Baldy Notch. Took some Benadryl and had my Epipen on the ready, but no hives! Just a swollen leg for the rest of the hike…ow. Anyhoo, the views were awesome! The hike was a great challenge. I did find enough trash to fill my pocket and several doggie bags along the trail. I guess that happens when ‘non-hikers' invade the trails.Ā  Ended the day with some Slurpies cuz it was hot! Ready for number 7 this week! Woohoo!!
