It was our first hike without the hiking club, using All Trails App, and a printed map. We began at 6 amand got to see the sunrise. We took the wrong trail for the first peak, but it was only a two mile round trip to the correct trail. We quickly learned to check on the app every now and then and compare it to the map. There were different ways to go up to the second peak, and of course we got off course adding a bit more to the milage, but it was ok. The views are gorgeous. The second peak had no marker so we spent a little time looking for it, and adding to the milage a little more. We checked the map and continued to Baden Powell taking the “shortest” route up, it was a bit steep and tough, but once again the views were gorgeous. We reached the peak and after our photos we hiked down to see a 1,500 yrs old tree. We had lunch by the tree and returned home. The insects were annoying and relentless, but I recommend this hike better than the many switchbacks from the other trail.
