Hiked Baden-Powell on Thursday 08/10/18. The weather was in the mid eighties, but felt cooler at the peak & there was a good breeze blowing…it felt amazing! This was hike #6 for me, and I was honestly a bit disappointed that it couldn’t be San Gorgonio instead, but it turned out to be a great hike. Those 40 switchbacks were intense during ascension!! I loved the challenge, and the scenery was beautiful. There’s some really cool trees along the trail-The Wally Waldron 1500 year old tree is magical! It wasn’t busy at all, only saw 4 other people hiking the trail, and there was more than enough parking available. When I got back to the trailhead I noticed there was a lot of broken glass on the floor next to my driver side (which wasn’t there earlier), I’m assuming it was from a broken window based on the amount of glass. Not sure what happened but be safe, & make sure not to leave valuables at sight in your vehicles. Anyhow, I’ve technically completed the challenge, but I’m planning to continue summiting peaks. This challenge has forever changed me. It has truly been a healing journey for me. It helped me overcome my fear of heights, & has been the best coping mechanism for my PTSD and generalized anxiety disorder. Climbing mountains taught me to believe in myself and my abilities, and the importance of self care, and making the time to do things that make me happy. For that I’ll be eternally grateful! ❤️
