Initial walk up fire access road encountered a twin waterfall. Then gentle climb to the ski lodge.  We chose to climb the trail under chair lift 4 and enjoyed the peak views during rest breaks.  Devil’s backbone had some gusty winds, so walking sticks were helpful.   Last push up the exposed rocks to the summit was tough with the altitude causing me to stop every 2 minutes to catch my breath.  Good sense of accomplishment at the top

Descent down Baldy Bowl Trail was miserable as the loose gravel caused 4 falls.   But moods improved when we reached the Ski Hut with the pretty creek.  From then on, it was an easy walk back to the car.  We celebrated with potstickers at Mama Lu’s  and shaved snow at Salju in Monterey Park.
