I hiked with my wife Oliveoil. We started at 7:00 am. At about a mile you have view of the city. The trail is well marked except about a mile or so there is an un marked junction going up and left. That will take you back so don't take it. It starts off with chaparral then oaks. It has evergreens toward the top. Nice view of baldy about 3/4 up. There are “poodle dog bush” on the trail bear the top you can avoid that by hiking the fire road. Endomondo put it at 17.44 miles. Night hiked the last hour.

I was wondering what plant that way towards the top of the trail. Thanks for identifying it!
You’re welcome. Poodle dog bush grows above 3000 feet in areas where there has been fires. It is said to have worst reactions than poison oak or ivy. Just in case you weren’t familiar with it. Happy and safe hikes!
