Loved this trail!!! So much beauty! Over 12 miles in just over 6 hours of moving time and reaching an elevation of 10,834 ft… We had tickets for the 8am tram, but were there at 7am. There were a lot of hikers there at that time. Fun ride up on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Really easy process to get the hiking permit at the Long Valley Ranger Station after a trek on a cement walkway down from the tram station. We were warned of higher winds (25-50mph), but did not run into too much of a problem with them. Was excited to see that at about two miles in there were pit toilets. Went over several patches of snow and the trail wasn't always defined, but microspikes weren't needed. There was a little rock scrambling for the very last bit to the summit sign, but absolutely doable. The views at the top are simply amazing. The steep cement walkway back up to the tram station kind of sucked at the end of a long hike. Ha!
