I decided to hike up Baldy in the late afternoon and bivvy on the summit.  Took the shorter but steeper Baldy Bowl trail past the Ski Hut and up to the summit.  I began hiking at 4:30p and made it to the peak for sunset at 8:15p.  There was a free windbreak so I cowboy camped behind the rocks, made a hot meal and got into my sleeping bag.  After a great night’s sleep I woke up at sunrise, packed up my gear and headed down via the backbone trail.  I was back at my car at 8:45a this morn and headed home.  I highly recommend spending the night on the peak.  It was a beautiful experience.
