This hike was Awesome! Definitely felt the difficulty level jumped up from the first two peaks and the length of the hike almost doubled (about 7.5 miles round trip with 2,300ft of elevation gained) from the previous peaks. The 1st mile or two of the hike is somewhat eerie. The reason for this is because the trail goes though the forest that was completely devastated from the wildfires. there was no greenery in sight and all the trees were burnt up and the stumps were warped due to the heat of the fires. Was definitely a different but cool experience to have. the higher you get up the devastation subsides and you start to see healthy trees and shrubberies. The summit of Black Crater was the best view thus far. All you can see is endless amounts of untouched land as well as great views of the sisters, Mt. washington, 3-fingered Jack, and Mt. Jefferson. This is a hike that I greatly recommend.
