My second peak with my hiking companion! We started to find our groove with this hike. Began around sunrise and the first three miles flew by! The ski hut was fun to explore and lift chairs were a nice photo op. It would probably be fun to experience these features in working season, but seeing as it was COVID time in the middle of summer, everything was closed. My friend and I put our new trekking poles to work with the steep inclines found throughout Baldy. Devil’s Backbone was the coolest feature (in my opinion)! So awesome to see some amazing views on both sides of you! The summit was the most “poppin’” I’d seen in my peak quest as of yet (I do most peaks on weekdays). There were a decent amount of people around taking pictures and having lunch. Overall pretty flat at the top, but great 360 viewing of the valleys below! Definitely felt the booty gains by the end of this hike!
