Easy trail! (I backpacked in the Sierras last week – so anything was easier!) Many switchbacks so no intense uphill climbs.  The bugs were a quite annoying as there was little wind. Very cool trees that had peeling, curling bark. I thought they were manzanitas initially until I saw an actual manzanita nearby and realized it was quite different. Most exciting thing – a rattlesnake! We thought it was dead… until it finally rattled and slithered! Yikes!! We then googled what to do if you’re bit… Wow. I was wrong! About the mileage – My Runkeeper app did not do well on this trail, maybe do to all the switchbacks?? It said we’d hiked nearly 6 miles when we reached the summit which was only 3.7 miles from the parking area. Overall, pleasant hike, not too strenuous.
