This peak was a celebration of sorts. Joan and I moved back to Los Angeles last Wednesday, today was our 7th anniversary, and this was my first peak of the 2019 SoCal Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge.
Team SoCalHiker was out in force, and several others completed the challenge with this hike. Apparently I have some catching up to do! 🙂
The weather was perfect for hiking… a little warm on the descent from the Notch to the parking area, but otherwise beautiful. The annual Climb for Heroes fundraiser is always a fun event, and this year it was not as crowded, probably because it had been rescheduled from May due to snow. It's always incredible and humbling to see the veterans in The Heroes Project hiking up Mount Baldy with one (or two!) prosthetic legs. Speaking with the vets and listening to their stories is a powerful and moving experience, and I'm proud that Team SoCalHiker was a part of this again in 2019.
The other big bonus? Seeing so many SoCal hiking friends along the way! Way too many to name them all, but I'll put together a recap post on SoCalHiker.net.
