Great day for a hike. Icehouse was beautiful. Cabins, redwoods, water….absolutely gorgeous. Rocks were awesome with the different formations in them. Yes, in them. Started slow. “I am not fast” is my motto, but I get the hike done! Weather was beautiful. Slight breeze to cool you off, but nothing like 2 weeks ago hiking Mt. Baldy. The sun is moving into the fall aspect. Nice areas of shade up the trail. Made it to the saddle for a small respite to refuel. Then went on. Not a bad hike. I happen to like switchbacks as I feel they make it just a bit easier for the climb. We made it to the peak. The iconic rock was amazing! The view over the valley was awesome. I hold back the the word “Spectacular” for a clear day! Then, we continued our journey down, as we know what goes up, must come down….We were going to take Chapman not Icehouse, but as Chapman was a longer hike, we opted for Icehouse. Want to go back just to take Chapman to the Saddle! Just a warning, snakes are what we avoid, but we saw a rattlesnake in the mid part of Icehouse. I had never seen one. Pretty amazing. Wasn't interested in us, Thank you, Lord! All in all a good hike. Number 3 in the books.
