Hiked with a slower-paced friend of mine…put some 5 (or 10?) pound ankle weights on, as I knew it wouldn't be that challenging for an arrogant jerk such as myself 🙂  The side trail was very scenic, and at one stretch it was effectively a rocky river- never experienced that before!  Fire road was…fire road.  “Technically” there were “signs” at the “ranger station” saying the “trail” and “summit” were “closed”, but literally nothing prevented us from going up.  So we did.  But at that point there was cloud coverage.  Alas.  Booked it on the fire road back down.  Six of San Diego DONE!
