Nice loop starting from close to the Paso Picacho campground. Sad not to be able to bring my dog, but still worth it. Loved the forest feels and then some steep rocks and the fire road pavement. Also you could find oak, pine, creeks. Amazing views of the mountains and valleys. Slightly icey on some parts much I still just wore hiking boots. It was only about 8miles but felt a bit longer. The fire road was pretty steep heading to the top. Pretty chilly up top. Maybe next time when it's warmer, I would love to camp down below!
