Trail snow-covered at times – Gear and expertise recommended

After a two week hiatus, we returned to the Six Pack of Peaks challenge. Slightly out of shaped and filled with Valentine candy, we took upon the challenge of Cuyamaca peak. Before embarking on the journey, we read the trail was riddled with snow. We thought it couldn't be too bad because it had been a few days since the last winter storm, but boy were we wrong! Pretty much the entire trail from Azalea Glen was covered in over 6 inches of hard-pack snow, making the already difficult 5-mile trek to the peak that much more difficult. Nonetheless it added a twist to our adventure and was fun in retrospect! Views from the top are breathtaking and made the last 500ft elevation gain on the fire road worth it.
