Trail snow-covered at times – Gear and expertise recommended

Summited earlier today. Only used microspikes and a whippet (ski pole with a mini axe attachment).

Would definitely recommend bringing a real ice axe to anyone else who goes back in the near future 🙂 There were a few times where I wish I had brought crampons instead, but most of the time crampons would have just got in the way, and slowed us down.

The day itself was rather wet, and very slushy, very little ice. I had brought 2 pairs of waterproof gloves and both were soaked before half the day was over. My friends gloves were the same. We were all drenched from head to toe, nothing was dry.

The view at the top was pretty foggy, there wasn't a lot to see… I wonder what the view at the summit looks like on a clear day? Maybe I'll have to come back again find out… maybe summer next time!

This was our 2nd attempt at a summit, the last time we were wading through waist high snow, plowing through multiple feet of powder, and post holing the whole way up only to give up 0.3 miles from the top… Glad we got it done this this time!
