This hike should not be for the “social hiker”. I am an experienced hiker and it was easy to get off trail going down the peak as there was no trail through the dangerous scramble to the false summit. I would rate this hike as more dangerous than South Sister which I have summited 7 times. Winds also changed blowing thick smoke in from the Pole Creek Fire. Luckily there was cell service on top of the peak for emergencies, but there was not service for most of the trail or any of the drive back to Oakridge. The marker for the summit climber trail going up from the PCT is also easy to miss. It’s extremely difficult to find the climber trail on the way down from the scramble too. Including this trail on the challenge could end up with some “social hikers” becoming lost. HUGE RISK.
