Snowfields to cross – could be difficult

My birthday was 5/17, so we headed to the mountains! Camped at high creek that night, but we got there super early and enjoyed the hike up. We got camp set up by 3, explored around the camp and made friends with the only other 3 people at the campground. It got cold that night, like mid-teens, but we made it! Plus that full moon was truly something to see. Started the next morning nice and early, didn’t hit many of the switch backs after the camp site due to large patches of snow, we just walked right up. Made it to the ridge to see San Jacinto in the background and about half a mile to a mile after, spikes were welcomed as the snowfields were starting to be more prevalent. Going across in a single file line hoping not to fall was something. Once we reached where Vivian and south fork meet up, we took our spikes off, only to put them back on after the rocks. The last walk to summit was on a complete sheet of ice. But we made it, enjoyed a break and talked to everyone up there. Made our way back down to camp where be broke it down and hiked on out. The Mexican restaurant heading away from the trailhead was calling our names and we enjoyed our dinner. And while at dinner, we had heard that the mountain was going to get 5+ inches of fresh snow starting later that night and continuing into the next day. Glad we made it off when we did!
