This was an awesome day on the mountain! I did the Grays/Torrays combo and it was well worth it. Sorry for the delay in posting my hike log.

got up nice and early to get a high view point on the sunrise. I made it to about 100 vertical feet below the summit when the sun came up. The hike in the dark was still very easy with help from my headlamp. I had no issue with route finding in the dark. It was fun seeing the line of headlamps behind me and a handful in front as well.

The summit of Grays was first on my list for the day. At the top the wind was quite strong but the sun was out and the Temp wasn’t too cold. After spending a few min at the summit I hiked down to the saddle between the two peaks. There, the wind was roaring through and it was almost hard to stand.

the hike up to Torrays was on a very well established trail and nice easy switch backs. At the summit the wind wasn’t too bad so I spent some extra time soaking in the views.

On the hike down there was an ant line of hikers on their way up… by far the most people I’ve seen on a trail to a 14er! Keep this in mind and get an early start if you want to avoid getting stuck behind some large groups.

Overall this was a great hike and would be a nice intro to climbing 14ers for someone with less experience as the trail is well established and there is very little exposure
