We arrived around 9:20 am and there were several parking spots still available at the trailhead. As others have mentioned there are restroom facilities at the trailhead. The hike is a very pleasant grade on a new, well-maintained trail through tree coverage and up onto the ridgetop for summit. It wasn't very crowded at all, though we attributed some of the lack of people due to the holiday. Shade was intermittent but better than most Bay Area hikes.
The last 1/4 mile is closed so you have to reach the top via the parking lot at the top, somewhat anti-climatic. At the top, there is a covered picnic area, benches, and several areas of information about the base, wildlife, and geography of the region.
