Today we summited El Cajon!
We started at 7:05 and ended up back at the car at 2:30. The trail got hot once noon rolled around. We each had 3 liters of water and that was not enough. My partner ran out of water with 1 mile left to go. I gave him 1/2 of what I had left and by the time we made it to the car we were both out. We read trial report(s) that said parking on the street was not allowed and the gates didnt open until 8. We got there much earlier than we thought and the gate was open. Had we known that parking on the street was OK depending on the area, we would have stepped off much earlier to beat the heat.
