As much as folks down here talk crap about this trail I actually love it. When the weather is nice of course. They actually close it for the season once our summer heat sets in.  I had tried to do it solo back in March and after I drove all the way down there from north county I found the trail was closed due to trail damage. Or so the sign said. It was also right at the beginning of the lock down. So in June I saw the perfect opportunity when on a Monday the weather called for CLOUDS  all day! I managed to talk my buddy into going with me and the two of us pretty much had the place to ourselves. There was one couple on the summit that I asked to take my pic because my buddy didn't want to navigate the boulders at the top so she waiting at the junction. Coming down we saw about a half dozen folks going up. It amazes me how late some people will start a hike. We used to do this hike BEFORE all those helpful green posts were installed. Man! I swear thanks to those things I shaved a quarter mile and 15 mins off of the scramble to the peak.
