Wildfire smoke to the east, heavy fog to the west made us bail on the suggested hike. We chose the Cataract falls hike to escape both. First mile up was all stairways following the cataracts. There was a good amount of water still in September. The rest of the hike passed through meadows, redwoods, Alpine lake, the reservoir. It was much more strenuous than I was prepared for. I agree with it deemed a difficult trail on Alltrails.

I love Mt. Tam and can’t wait to try to summit it soon.
