The evening before the hike, we found out the road to Arizona Snowbowl was going to be close. So we changed our time start to be there before the road was closed. Started at 6am with family and friends but we all knew we were going up at our own pace.

Due that my boyfriend is carrying our daughter we had our goal to get to the saddle by a certain time. Plus we wanted to go as far as she let us. She did great until a mile from the saddle; she got cold due to the wind. We wrapped her up and continued to the saddle where there was sunlight. We took a break and waited for the others.

After we all took a break, here we go! As we come around the wind picked up. Our daughter started crying because she hates the wind blowing at her. So I wrapped the blanket around her and she was ok for a few steps. I tired putting Jason hoodie over the blanket and her but nothing worked. She was over it. Jason decided he was turning around for her and told me to keep going since at that point we were half a mile from the peak. I continued to the peak with my gals.

The wind was so horrible and never really gave in. It felt weird not having the both of them with me to celebrate. Plus I should of told Jason to wait at the saddle for me and then he could had summit himself. This was the first peak we didn't summit as a family.

I took photos and told my gals that I'm going to try catching up to my family. As I was coming down the peak, I fell twice not for rush because of stepping on loose rocks. I was about an hour behind them and I realized I'm not a solo hiker at all. I have always wanted to hike solo and here I was on the way down doing it; boy oh boy my mind went wild. Everything that could go wrong had me trying my hardest to get off the mountain and to my family.

Everyone experience is different and I know mind was. All I can tell someone that wants to hike it …. at the saddle to the peak expect the wind to be crazy!
