Headed south from OC with a hiking bud at 7 a.m. Arrived at 9:03, paid $10 to park at the paso picacho campground, via an app. Nice addition. No one is at the campground stand to collect any payments for camping or day hiking. Parking lot wide open. One other car there, they crossed the street to hike up to stonewall peak. We had the trail to ourselves, all day. It is a gorgeous hike if you travel counter clockwise up to the summit. Although the new road is great, the views on the way up were outstanding.

First time here, the scent of the trees surrounding us as we climbed steadily and peacefully…rare to have a trail to ourselves. It was heaven. Towards the top, a utility worker/truck passes us and waved us on. It is open. There is no blockage of any kind to keep you from getting to the peak, though there is no official peak sign, we did see that someone left a cheesy cardboard sign at the peak…that we happily used. It was better than what we didn't have, lol.

This is a great peak, peaceful hike and on the way down the new paved road, we strolled through the campground, which was 95% empty, quick trip to ladies room and we were off.

Great day,great company. Great peak!
