Sixth one down! I booked a twofer trip with the missus in Calistoga. Hiking (solo) in the morning, and wine tasting in the afternoon, with good food all around. We arrived Sunday night and I opted for an early start this morning, given the 92F forecast for the afternoon. I arrived at the trailhead around 7:45am, and didn't encounter anyone else on the way up. AllTrails suggested 9.2miles but my tracker registered 12 miles by the time I was done. I always mistrust AllTrails' suggestions, though I did add about 0.7 miles with the addition of the South Peak, another of the Nifty Ninety (these two brought my count to 63). The trails were dry and dusty, and the upper portion is a boring fire road. But the views all around made it not matter. Despite the actual temperature probably being in the 70s, it was breezy and cool most of the trek, so weather turned out to not be an issue. I did end up running short of water since I expected a 2:30 round trip, and it ended up being 3:20. It never felt overly strenuous, but it was nonstop. Fortunately I was able to jog much of it on the way down since it was gentle enough to do so. Happy to have the six down, thanks to SocialHiker for pushing me to complete the challenge, and to fellow Six Packer Mike for introducing me to it!
