It was a hot day, we took the azalea trail up and it was beautiful, the peak access said it was closed for construction, but the ranger said that it was accessible on the weekends when they are doing work. It was a pretty steady climb, the shade was welcome whenever we stopped. The last 1.5 miles to the top where the towers are was a final kick in the butt, especially given the fresh black asphalt, which didn’t seem to cool us down at all, lol, but that was probably the last half of mike to the peak, but also probably the steepest. Great day, one peak down!!
