First time up Mount Diablo

Crisp, perfect day for hiking! Started at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center, where there were huge flocks of wild turkeys wandering around. Took the steep route up to Eagle Peak, following the ridgeline to the saddle, then winding our way up the final ascent to Mount Diablo. It's a good feeling making it up there on your own two legs.

The actual summit of Mount Diablo is “inside” the visitor center at the top — on the second floor. Be sure to stop in and check it out.

On the way back, took the easier Mitchell Creek trail — a fire road.

GaiaGPS logged 13.2 miles and 3,539′ of vertical gain. Celebrated with craft beer at Calicraft in Walnut Creek afterward. Thanks to @alpharoaming for joining me on this one!
