The name Flatiron is a little deceiving. This hike starts as an easier hike up the maintained Siphon Draw trail, but quickly turns to a scramble/difficult hike once beyond the actual trail.
We followed the marked “trail” beyond the Siphon Draw, but noticed that trail makers were harder and harder to follow as they have become worn. This makes for many people hiking off trail, so watch out above as we had some rocks slide down not far from us.
Without a doubt this is a challenging hike, both up and down. This is also a rewarding hike with amazing views of the valley.
