Beautiful hike past the fire-road, turns into a lush and green mystical forest, easy to navigate and just enjoyable for a peak hike. Did this one twice just because I loved it the first time around. First summit was March 15, 2020 with my hiking group… weather then was in the 40s/50s, super cold but no bugs to annoy. My second summit was May 30, 2020 with a few friends. The weather was perfect but tons of bugs at the tower overlook area. Tons of giant ants at the real summit – the boulders when you follow the pink trail ribbons. The geo-marker is located way at the top of the boulder, assessable to those okay with heights and climbing. Overall, this is a very enjoyable hike although the last two miles seem to be an endless descend thats rough on the knees.
