The hike provided beautiful views of the San Gabriel Mountains to the west, Mt. San Gorgonio and Mt. San Jacinto looming nearby, and Big Bear Lake to the north. The trail was filled with cool people with good vibes. Hikers who had summitted before encouraged and reassured us that spikes were not necessary, which was great news for my friend and I, because I wanted to continue checking off peaks for the Six Pack Challenge. We did the entire hike in one day, but I want to try staying overnight on future long hikes, to be able to have more reflection time, especially when driving from far away, Burbank in our case.

On a separate note, I was really happy to have maintained my fast until 12pm, when I usually have my first meal. On my previous hikes I ate a little earlier 9:30 am (Mt. Wilson and Mt. Baldy) and 10:30 (Cucamonga Peak). I was pleased with this because in past hikes I have eaten because everyone else was eating or because I thought I needed food. There is a difference between appetite and hunger, and I don't want to give into appetite. The fact that I was able to do this on Saturday, tells me that I am getting a little more comfortable with these epic hikes, at least enough so to maintain what I do in the lowlands. In addition, it provides another challenge in addition to hiking to the peak itself, which really helps me hone in on my body and thoughts, it's meditative. This is only for me and I am not telling anyone to do this. Maybe other people who subscribe to Time-Restricted Eating or Intermittent Fasting can chime in on this.

Happy Trails everyone!
