Easy to moderate “walk” up to Mount Woodson and Potato Chip Rock on a paved road from Highway 67. Parking is along the highway but be careful because the 55 MPH speed limit and “your speed is” flashing radar signs at the trail head are apparently invisible because traffic was consistently over 60 MPH.

Today was the first day after rains with only a few small clouds floating around, and the panoramic view of the local mountains was awesome including Hot Springs, Cuyamaca and others. I enjoyed the panorama more than The Chip. There were very few people at The Chip. I actually had to double-time a bit to ask a group leaving to hang around to take my pics. Another group came a few minutes later anyway, but usually there is a line especially in the noon hour.

Garden Salsa flavor Sun Chips are my favorite hiking snack. I planned to bring a bag for a Chip pic but I screwed up and brought French Onion. I hiked El Cajon Mountain earlier today and forgot to swap my snacks to my smaller pack for Mount Woodson. It was funny though, another visitor set on the ground the exact same model larger backpack that I left in my trunk with the Garden Salsa, a teasing coincidence.
