A great day hike that starts near Granite Basin lake. The first two miles to the base of the mountain lead through Ponderosa pine forests and a small riparian zone. There is a gentle incline here. Afterwards the next 1.5 miles take up most of the elevation gain with a series of switch backs. Then the final push to the vista is marked by pine forests with small meadows and large outcrops of smooth granite. The views over Prescott were great and in some ways reminded me of Mt. Lemmon. A wonderful day for a hike!
