Hike Log

High Point Palomar

Trailhead:

Oak Grove

Type of Hike:

Day hike

Trail Conditions:

Trail in good condition

ROAD:

Road suitable for all vehicles

Bugs:

Bugs were not too bad

Snow:

Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

The trail was difficult, all uphill the first 6.5 miles, but the views were spectacular.  There was VERY little snow, just tiny patches toward the top.  The steepest part is definitely the first 2.5 miles, but the fire road doesn’t offer much reprieve.  There were multiple downed trees across the trail, but they were very easy to navigate around or over.  The trail was well marked and easy to follow.  Despite warnings that it would be very windy and cold at the summit, it was cool, but quite pleasant.  All of us wore too many layers, and were forced to strip down. Beautiful hike, but probably a one and done for me.
