What a gorgeous day for a hike! A few hikerbabes got on the trail, so excited the gate to Black Butte was finally open! Trekking poles were very helpful on the steep incline. We started out on the trail by 9:30 so had cooler temps while hiking through the trees but once we were out in the exposed areas we warmed up quickly. There were shortages of stops for pics of the spectacular mountains surrounding us. The last 1/4 mile we had to make it through soft snow, sometimes up to our knees but we were not going to let a little snow stop us from getting to the top. Our lunch view was out of this world!
