We hiked the beautiful Azalea Glen, Conejos and Lookout Road loop.  This is my favorite way to hike up to Cuyamaca Peak.  The view were amazing with perfect weather except for the wind at the top which was cold and breezy.  We could see all the way to the Salton Sea in the desert and San Clemente Island, Catalina Island and the Coronado Islands in the west. The sunlight made a golden hue on the ocean as we neared the peak. Besides the views, we were treated to sightings of scrub jays, acorn woodpeckers, Western bluebirds, turkey vultures and even a hawk that soared down as we were doing the same.  It’s always nice to look down upon Cuyamaca Lake and out at the nearby peaks; Stonewall, Middle & North Peak.  I remember hiking this before the fires when Middle Peak was covered with trees.  Such an awesome memory!  We saw the moon above Stonewall on the way up and the pre sunset glow on the way back.  To hike this with my soulmate was pure ecstasy!
