Started very early to avoid the heat but failed! All layers came off within the first 15 mins of the uphill climb. After the rough first couple of miles it wasn’t so bad and there was shade along the way. Around mile 5 the flies started and were relentless. Luckily they weren’t too bad at the top and stopped again at that same point for really only a couple of miles of pesky flies.
There was one car at the trailhead when I started and I passed them on the way up. I did not see any other people going up or coming down.
The ranger at the top is really nice!
Overall a great hike despite the heat. It hit over 95 on the way down and was 100 at the car ????

    1. I started at 6:30 and it took 5:04 total including stops. I added a little extra mileage- about a mile- by taking a couple of wrong turns ????

  1. Hi Karen – I just signed up the SD Six-Pack Challenge last month. Do you have recommendation on any group or people in SD to hike the Six-Pack together? Thanks.

    1. Hi! There are several great San Diego Facebook groups that can help you find people to go with. I’ve had good luck with all of them. San Diego Hiking Society, San Diego, CA Hiking Group are good ones. The others I have are women’s groups.
